5 Top Tips for Looking Good in Your Wedding Photos

Thu, 12 May 2011

Often you hear people say they don’t take good photos, or they are not photogenic. Here are 5 simple handy tips to make sure you take the perfect wedding photo :

• Wear clothes and colours that suit you - sounds obvious but it is a common mistake, certain colours complement certain skin tones;

Weddings often are emotional events which normally mean tears – to avoid redness in the eyes by keeping eye whitening drops in your bag;

• Try to keep shine down - if you’re prone to sweating dab yourself down before the photo as digital cameras have a tendency to exaggerate the shine;

• Find the right angle for your face, if you have hired a photographer they will guide you through this. But there is nothing to stop you ‘practicing’ all you need is a camera. Take photos at different angles and it will become obvious which angles flatter you the most. Key rules are when sitting, slightly angle yourself so you don’t take a ‘caught in the headlights’ shot and secondly try leaning slightly towards the camera as this helps improve facial definition;

• Think happy thoughts - why some of us take bad photos is that photos are meant to capture us being natural but the thought of taking a photo can cause us to be so conscious of the lens it makes us take a bad photo. So think of good thoughts, if it’s your wedding think of your happy life together or the moment you first met, this will help you take a very natural picture.
